Rinse the basmati rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for about 30 minutes, then drain.

Cook the rice in a pot with 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork and set aside.

In a separate bowl, soak the soya chunks in hot water for 10 minutes. Drain and squeeze out excess water.

Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add chopped garlic, ginger, and green chilli. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
