Rinse the basmati rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear.

Heat the ghee in a large pan over medium heat.

Add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds to the pan and let them splutter.

Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for another minute.

Add the mixed vegetables to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Mix in the masala powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.

Add the rinsed rice to the pan and stir well to coat the rice with the spices.

Pour in enough water to cover the rice and vegetables, usually about 400ml.
