Rinse the rice and split moong dal thoroughly under running water and soak them together for about 15-20 minutes.

Heat oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let them splutter.

Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for another minute.

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.

Add the mixed vegetables and sauté for a couple of minutes.

Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

Drain the soaked rice and moong dal and add them to the pressure cooker. Mix everything together.

Add 4 cups of water and stir well. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles.
