Ingredientes
4 Raciones
- All-purpose flour240 g
- Brown sugar140 g
- Warm water240 ml
- Instant yeast5 g
- Pitted Chinese red dates, chopped80 g
- Vegetable oil10 g
Preparación
- 1
Pour the warm water into a large mixing bowl. Add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Ensure the mixture is warm rather than hot so it does not damage the yeast.
- 2
Add the instant yeast, stir briefly, and let the mixture stand for 5 minutes.
- 3
Add the all-purpose flour gradually, stirring until a smooth, thick, lump-free batter forms.
- 4
Reserve a small portion of the chopped red dates for the top, then fold the remaining dates evenly into the batter.
- 5
Brush the inside of a heatproof 20 cm round cake pan or similar steaming dish with the vegetable oil.
- 6
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface. Cover and leave it in a warm place for 45–60 minutes, or until visibly expanded and approximately doubled in volume.
- 7
Sprinkle the reserved chopped red dates over the risen batter without pressing it down.
- 8
Bring water to a boil in a steamer. Place the pan in the steamer and cover it with a heatproof plate or foil to prevent condensation from dripping onto the cake.
