1In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Shape the mixture into 4-6 oval patties.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the patties to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the beef broth and bring to a simmer.
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth. Add this mixture to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens.
Return the patties to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Serve the Salisbury steak hot, with the sauce drizzled over the top.
