In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Shape the mixture into 4-6 oval patties.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and cook for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.
Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir well to coat.
Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Return the patties to the skillet, spooning some of the mushroom sauce over them.
Cover the skillet and let the patties simmer in the sauce for about 10 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
Serve the Mushroom Salisbury Steak hot, with the mushroom sauce spooned over the top.
