Rinse the brown channa thoroughly and soak them in water overnight or for at least 8 hours.

Drain the soaked channa and pressure cook them with enough water and a pinch of salt until they are soft and cooked through.

Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Add the chopped onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.

Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute until the raw smell disappears.

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and the oil starts to separate.

Add the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes.

Add the cooked channa along with some of the cooking water. Stir well to combine.
