Ingredients

Rinse the rice and toor dal together under running water until the water runs clear.

In a pressure cooker, add the rinsed rice and toor dal along with 4 cups of water. Cook for 3-4 whistles or until both are soft and mushy.

In a separate pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Add cumin seeds, dried red chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté for a few seconds until fragrant.

Add chopped onion and sauté until it turns translucent.

Add chopped tomato and cook until it becomes soft.
