Rinse the basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Layer the partially cooked rice over the vegetable mixture in the pot. Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over the rice.
Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes until the rice is fully cooked and the flavors are well combined.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
Serve hot with raita or your favorite side dish.
