1Soak the almonds in hot water for about 30 minutes to loosen their skins.
Peel the skins off the almonds and blend them into a smooth paste using a little milk.
In a saucepan, bring the remaining milk to a boil over medium heat.
Add the almond paste to the boiling milk and stir well to combine.
Add sugar and cardamom powder to the milk and continue to simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add a few saffron strands to the milk and stir until they dissolve and impart a golden color.
Remove the saucepan from heat and let the badam milk cool slightly.
Serve warm or chilled, garnished with additional saffron strands if desired.
