In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the cubed yams. Cook for about 10 minutes or until they are just tender. Drain and set aside.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the maple syrup, orange juice, cinnamon, ginger, and salt. Stir well to combine.
Place the cooked yams in a baking dish. Pour the maple syrup mixture over the yams, making sure they are evenly coated.
