Rinse the moong dal thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear.

In a pot, add the rinsed moong dal and 500ml of water. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer until the dal is soft and cooked through.

While the dal is cooking, finely chop the onion, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, and green chili.

In a separate pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
