Stir in the cumin, coriander, and chili powder, and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Add the chopped carrots, red lentils, and vegetable broth to the pot.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 25-30 minutes, or until the carrots and lentils are tender.
Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth, or transfer it to a blender in batches.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
