Rinse the moong dal and rice together under running water until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.
Heat the oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
Add the minced ginger, garlic, and green chili. Sauté for another minute until fragrant.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
Stir in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
