Soak the almonds in hot water for about 30 minutes. Once soaked, peel the skin off and grind them into a coarse paste.

Continue to cook on low heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens to a halwa consistency and starts leaving the sides of the pan.
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving. Garnish with some chopped almonds if desired.
