Dal Tadka with Brown Rice

Rinse the yellow lentils thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear.

In a pot, add the rinsed lentils and 600 ml of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer until the lentils are soft and cooked, about 20-25 minutes.

While the lentils are cooking, rinse the brown rice under cold water. In another pot, add the rice and 400 ml of water. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low heat for about 30-35 minutes until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.

In a pan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let them splutter for a few seconds.

Add the chopped onion to the pan and sauté until golden brown.
