Lightly grease the waffle iron with a little butter or non-stick spray.
Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron, using enough to cover the surface but not overflow.
Close the waffle iron and cook until the waffles are crisp and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes depending on your waffle iron.
Carefully remove the waffles and repeat with the remaining batter.
Serve the waffles warm with chocolate icing drizzled on top, if desired.
