1Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
In a large bowl, mix the self-raising flour and sugar together.
Add the butter and rub it into the flour mixture using your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Gradually add the milk, mixing with a knife until you have a soft dough.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 2 cm (
8 inches).
Use a round cutter to cut out scones and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Brush the tops of the scones with a little milk.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are well risen and golden brown.
Remove the scones from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire rack.
Serve the scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
